Top tourism honor is richly deserved

Having watched Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park grow from petting zoo to the mega-draw it is today, most of us figured it would just be a matter of time before it was discovered by the outside world.

That time appears to have arrived: The park was recently named "attraction of the year" by Travel Michigan and the Michigan Hotel, Motel & Resort Association.

It is a fitting honor for the park's manager, Camille Jourden-Mark, as well for her father Roger Jourden, who took many financial risks on the way to building the park and realizing his dream. The park is now owned by Cedar Fair LLC.

And obviously, the benefit this kind of recognition confers is far broader than one business entity. Sam Wendling, director of Muskegon County's convention and visitors bureau, notes that its effect on local tourism is immeasurable -- especially since state travel figures estimate the park attracted a record 600,000 visitors last year.

Singapore Wi-Fi Deployment Offers Best Practices for ...

BEIJING, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- WIMAX World -- Firetide, Inc., a developer of multi-service wireless mesh networks and iCELL, Singapore's leading IT solution provider, on 19 April 2007 will present a conference panel at WIMAX World covering progress made and lessons learned during the first phase of Wireless@SG, the Wi-Fi deployment blanketing Singapore. Firetide, iCELL and partnering Singapore distributor D-Synergy, are currently deploying the network which consists of more than 1,000 indoor and outdoor mesh nodes and access points.

As with many large U.S. cities, Singapore has a challenging wireless environment with hills, narrow streets, alleys and high rise office towers blocking line-of-sight. Due to the tropical climate, most end-users prefer to receive Wi-Fi indoors, adding the challenge of penetrating building walls.
